Basic Scaffolding

This 5 day course is specifically designed for those employees who are required to hold a Worksafe High Risk Work licence (SB) to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at the basic level. This basic scaffolding course is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

COURSE INFORMATION

Course Duration 5 Days. This Nationally accredited course provides students the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at the basic level.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO

Inspect and Prepare the Work Area
– Identify hazards in the work area, select appropriate control measures and implement selected control measures.

Select and Check Equipment
– Identify, select and inspect scaffolding equipment, safety equipment, communication equipment, associated equipment and Isolate defective equipment.

Set Up for Scaffolding
– Check ground stability and suitability, prepare footings, fit safety equipment, prepare scaffolding and associated equipment and position scaffolding and associated equipment.

Erect Scaffolding Including
– Erect a modular scaffold with the following components:
– Return, ladder access and platform brackets.
– Minimum height of working platform is 5m above supporting surface.
– Scaffold has full edge protection including toe-boards.
– Scaffold has a safety screen.
– Scaffold has a safety net installed.
– Scaffold has a static line installed.
– Scaffold has a gin wheel installed.
– A cantilevered materials hoist is installed.
– Erect a mobile tower scaffold.
– Erect a bracket scaffold.
– Inspect completed scaffold.

Demonstrate Temporary Connections Including
– Back splice, eye splice, common whipping, west countryman’s whipping, sailmaker’s whipping, clove hitch around a tube, rolling hitch around a tube, single bowline, timber hitch and half hitch around a plank and sheet bend to another rope.

Finalise the Task
– Dismantle scaffolding.
– Inspect equipment.
– Remove hazard control measures.
– Remove materials, rubbish and debris from the work area.

CERTIFICATION

On successful completion of the course persons will be issued with a Certificate/Statement of Attainment from the Scaffold Tool and Training Company RTO #22226.
A High Risk Work Licence (SI) will be issued by Worksafe Victoria.
This course is a Nationally Accredited Course.

PREREQUISITES & COURSE REQUIREMENTS

– Persons must be 18 years of age or older
– Photo ID must be presented i.e. current driver’s license or passport
– Basic English language and literacy skills


Intermediate Scaffolding

This 4 day course is specifically designed for those employees who are required to hold a Worksafe High Risk Work licence (SI) to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at the intermediate level. This intermediate scaffolding course is based upon the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

Course Duration 4 Days. This Nationally accredited course provides students the skills and knowledge required to safely erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding at intermediate level.

UPON COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO

Inspect and Prepare the Work Area
– Identify hazards in the work area, select appropriate control measures and implement selected control measures.

Select and Check Equipment
– Assess the scaffolding task to be completed. Identify, select and inspect scaffolding equipment, safety equipment, communication equipment, associated equipment and isolate defective equipment.

Set Up for Scaffolding
– Gather relevant site information
– Check ground stability and suitability, prepare footings, fit safety equipment, prepare scaffolding and associated equipment and position scaffolding and associated equipment.

Erect Scaffolding Including
– Independent tube and coupler scaffold.
– Cantilevered scaffold.
– Spurred scaffold.
– Barrow ramp.
– Mast climber.
– Cantilevered crane loading platform.
– Perimeter safety screens/shutters.
– Inspect completed scaffold.
– Complete handover certificate.

Finalise the Task
– Dismantle scaffolding.
– Inspect equipment and isolate/tag/report if defective.
– Remove hazard control measures.
– Remove materials, rubbish and debris from the work area.

– Remove hazard control measures.
– Remove materials, rubbish and debris from the work area.
